At the National Brain Tumor Society, we work to maximize every dollar we receive. Charity Navigator has once again recognized our financial health with a four-star rating, the highest it offers. While we take great pride in such a prestigious acknowledgment, we are even more proud that we make the most out of each contribution. Our financial efficiency and accountability allows you to give confidently, knowing that a very high percentage of every dollar we receive is going directly to support research, patient and caregiver services, and advocacy.

Help Advance Brain Tumor Awareness Resolution in Congress On May 4, brain tumor advocates participating in the North American Brain Tumor Coalition's Brain Tumor Action Week went to Capitol Hill and had great success in generating support for the brain tumor cause. We need your help in building on the momentum that they started!
At the urging of brain tumor advocates, Senators Collins (R-ME) and Casey (D-PA) have introduced the Collins-Casey Brain Tumor Awareness Resolution. The Senate will vote this week on the resolution. Please immediately contact your two United States Senators and ask them to support this resolution. Learn more on our website.
In the House, Representatives Jan Schakowsky (D - IL), Jackie Speier (D-CA), Joe Sestak (D-PA), and Mike Castle (R-DE) are introducing a House Resolution to continue recognizing May 2010 as National version of the Brain Tumor Awareness Month.
ACT NOW to guarantee that this resolution has enough co-sponsors to insure introduction and passage. Learn more on our website.
Recap of Brain Tumor Action Week
During Brain Tumor Action Week 2010, advocates nationwide joined the North American Brain Tumor Coalition (NABTC) in pressing federal lawmakers for action to advance brain tumor research and care. On May 3, NABTC held a community education meeting featuring guest speakers and advocacy training. On May 4, NBTS staff and board members, along with other advocates went to Capitol Hill for visits with their lawmakers. Two of these advocates, Alan Bemiss of Massachusetts and Liz Harrington of Maine, have graciously shared their experiences with us.
There's still time to get involved!
Just because Brain Tumor Awareness Month is coming to a close, does not mean that you can't get involved. Download the NABTC position papers and continue to raise awareness closer to home.

Spring Event Season Kicks Off!
The NBTS 2010 event season got underway in the beginning of May. Some highlights include:
Students Supporting Brain Tumor Research
Students Supporting Brain Tumor Research (SSBTR) is a generous supporter of NBTS. The student-run organization in Arizona was founded in 2002 after three students from the local community died from brain tumors. In 2010, SSBTR organized Walk-a-Thons in Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff, raising more than $230,000 between all three events. SSBTR plans to continue to grow, spreading awareness of brain tumors and the need to raise funds to help find a cure.
